1. History of Hodogaya International Exchange Lounge

Our organization started its activities in 1990 initiated by exchange students of Yokohama National University and citizens in Hodogaya. In May 1991,HIEC(Japanese: Hodogaya International Exchange Center) opened its office at current Iwama Shimin Plaza with 59 volunteer members including the function as a Corner of Hodogaya Ward Office. Current members are about 100 volunters ,19 rotating shift staff and 80 volunteer staff who take care of various activities mentioned below.

2. Our Role & Mission

The purpose of HIEC is to contribute to the residents in the area both foreign & Japanese who need our assistance/consultations and also to promote mutual understanding as the global citizens in Yokohama each other.
