1. History of Hodogaya International Exchange Center (HIEC)

Our organization started its activities in 1990 initiated by exchange students of Yokohama National University and citizens in Hodogaya. In May 1991,HIEC opened its office at current Iwama Shimin Plaza with 59 volunteer members including the function as a Corner of Hodogaya Ward Office. Current members are about 100 volunters ,19 rotating shift staff and 80 volunteer staff who take care of various activities mentioned below.

2. Our Role & Mission

The purpose of HIEC is to contribute to the residents in the area both foreign & Japanese who need our assistance/consultations and also to promote mutual understanding as the global citizens in Yokohama each other.
